The policies can be purchased before the trip or while already abroad.

STA Travel Standard International Plan
The Standard International Plan is for travelers taking a single trip up to six months long. The comprehensive policy includes Trip Cancellation and Interruption, Medical Evacuation, Travel Delay, Baggage Loss and Delay, and Emergency Medical benefits, including coverage for pre-existing conditions if purchased before making the final trip payment. Travelers can extend their policy during their trip up to the six-month maximum.

STA Travel Explorer Plus Plan
The Explorer Plus Plan is an annual travel insurance policy for travelers taking multiple trips over the course of a year. The policy features Trip Cancellation and Interruption coverage of $3,000 per person for the year, as well as Non-Medical Evacuation coverage up to $50,000 in the event of political unrest or a natural disaster. The plan also includes Emergency Medical, Medical Evacuation, Travel Delay, and Baggage Loss and Delay benefits.
