INDIANA, Pa., Jan. 7, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- S&T Bank (S&T) (NASDAQ: STBA), a full-service financial institution with assets of $4.9 billion, branch locations in 12 Pennsylvania counties and loan production offices in northeast and central Ohio, welcomes George Basara, Esq. as General Counsel and Executive Vice President, Human Resources, and Steve Smith as Senior Vice President, Property and Purchasing.

George Basara, Esq., General Counsel and EVP, Human Resources will be responsible for overseeing legal matters for S&T Bank, as well as managing the human resources department. In his role, Basara will act as the key point of contact for senior business executives on legal matters, and will be responsible for managing outside counsel as well as negotiating contracts with service providers. In addition, Basara will be responsible for the overall operation of the human resources department and will lead the team in continuing to improve upon S&T Bank's stellar reputation as an employer in the banking community and western Pennsylvania. Basara earned his law degree from Hofstra University and his bachelor of arts from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He joins S&T Bank from Buchanan Ingersoll & Rooney PC, a Pittsburgh-based law firm where he served as a shareholder practicing in the areas of labor, employment and litigation. He has practiced law exclusively in the private sector, representing businesses before state and federal courts and various governmental agencies.

Steve Smith, SVP, Properties and Purchasing will be responsible for overseeing facility management corporate wide including each of S&T Bank's 55 branch locations. In his new role, Smith will manage current and pending purchasing contracts, vendor and office supply providers, construction and remodeling projects, site acquisition, design, bids, construction, installation of all peripherals, and ultimately provide turnkey opening for future bank locations. He will also be responsible for lease negotiations and the management of lease renewals at all offices. Smith graduated from the United States Naval Academy, and has worked in Property and Purchasing for more than 20 years.
