St. Marks Wins Special Election for Chairman of the Chippewa Cree Tribe of the Rocky Boy's Reservation by a Landslide

LOUISVILLE, Colo., Feb. 5, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Ken St. Marks of the Chippewa Cree Tribe of the Rocky Boy's Reservation won his third straight election for Chairman and did so by a landslide. The Special Election results were as follows:

Ken Blatt St. Marks – 300 votes
Dustin J. Whitford – 200 votes
Johnathan Windy Boy – 167 votes
Bert Corcoran – 53 votes

St. Marks has consistently swept elections at Rocky Boy's, winning the General Election in November, 2012; the Special Election of July 30, 2013; and now the Special Election of February 3, 2015. The electorate has repeatedly indicated it wants St. Marks to serve as its Chair, a position that, along with Business Committee, will:

advise the heads of various federal departments and other governmental agencies with regard to appropriations;
manage all economic affairs and enterprises of the tribe;
charter subordinate organizations for economic purposes; and
appropriate available tribal funds for tribal government operations.

Despite federal laws that protect whistleblowers, St. Marks has been repeatedly "expelled" by persons purporting to be Business Committee members despite those persons having no legitimate ability to act. St. Marks had this to say about the Special Election results:
