MCLEAN, Va., Dec. 12, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- St. Mary's (Phoenix), Duncanville (Texas) and Mater Dei (Santa Ana, Calif.) hold the top three spots in the USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25 national editorial rankings for girls basketball for the week of Dec. 10.

The USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25 rankings appear in today's print edition of USA TODAY Sports and are also available online at USA TODAY High School Sports (

The USA TODAY High School Sports Super 25 is now in its 30th year as the most prestigious high school ranking platform in the nation. Gatorade is the Official Fuel of the Super 25 rankings platform, which includes computer rankings of every major high school football, baseball, boys and girls basketball and boys and girls lacrosse team in the nation.

The biggest shakeup in this week's Super 25 comes out of the Washington, D.C. metro area, where previously unranked Paul VI (Fairfax, Va.)—now occupying the No. 10 position—defeated then-No. 6 H.D. Woodson (Washington, D.C.), knocking the team to No. 19 in this week's rankings.

Bishop O'Dowd (Oakland, Calif.), ranked No. 3 last week, had an idle week and fell to the No. 4 position, while Whitney Young (Chicago) maintained its No. 5 spot and remains undefeated.

Norcross (Ga.) maintains its No. 9 position in this week's Super 25 rankings, thanks in part to the efforts of preseason American Family Insurance ALL-USA honoree Diamond DeShields, who had 21 points in a 51-46 defeat of Mountain View (Lawrenceville, Ga.).   Norcross is preceded by No. 6 Riverdale (Murfreesboro, Tenn.), No. 7 La Jolla Country Day (La Jolla, Calif.) and No. 8 Riverdale Baptist (Upper Marlboro, Md.).

Aberdeen (Md.) debuts as the No. 25 team after defeating Milford Mill (Baltimore) in its first game of the season last week.

Last week's No. 17 team Archbishop Wood (Warminster, Pa.), as well as then-No. 25 Troy (Fullerton, Calif.) suffered early season losses and have dropped out of the rankings completely.

Following is the complete listing of this week's USA TODAY High School Sports girls basketball rankings.
