JACKSONVILLE, Fla., April 17, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- As Platinum Sponsors, CoventBridge Group is taking their CoventBridge Cares, charitable giving and volunteer initiative, to the next level. CoventBridge Group's CCO and two-time, Stage IV Triple Negative Metastatic Breast Cancer with the BRCA1+ gene thriver, Stacy Hanson, will once again serve as the event chair for the Making Strides Against Breast Walk of Jacksonville. She is grateful to be supported again this year by honorary chairs Inger and Pat Geraghty of Florida Blue.

Hanson commented on the 2019 walk by saying, "I am honored that the American Cancer Society has asked me to return as Event Chair in 2019. The Society's commitment to Making Strides Against Breast Cancer is unwavering, with their continued funding of innovative cancer research, and their 24/7 cancer helpline which provides direction for newly diagnosed cancer patients and their families access to the care they need. The American Cancer Society has $61 million currently invested in multiyear breast cancer research grants, and funds raised through this event will support lifesaving research in 2019 and beyond. There is no cure for metastatic breast cancer, which is unacceptable in 2019. Research is the only path to finding a cure and saving the lives of over 42,000 women and 200 men a year who die from breast cancer. Jacksonville is an incredible community, we will continue to come together to make the 2019 Making Strides Against Breast Cancer the best one yet in terms of fundraising and awareness."

Hanson's 6 year old daughter, Lucy, has a 50/50 chance of inheriting the BRCA gene from her. It is Hanson's goal to do everything possible to help make sure that when Lucy is of age, she will not have to worry if she has the BRCA1+ gene or not, as there will be a cure or maybe even a vaccine. Hanson asks that you join her in watching this video, where she shares her journey and why this cause has become her passion project.
