WASHINGTON, Aug. 30, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- On August 31st, 2017, International Overdose Awareness Day, the Association of State and Territorial Health Officials (ASTHO), the National Safety Council (NSC) and Physicians for Responsible Opioid Prescribing (PROP) will announce their filing of a petition to FDA seeking removal of specific opioid products. The press conference will be held at noon at the National Press Club, hosted by FED UP!, a coalition of organizations advocating for a more forceful federal response to the opioid addiction epidemic. The FED UP! Coalition is also hosting a candlelight vigil and a march to the White House at The Ellipse in Washington, DC later in the evening and has helped to organize at least 60 International Overdose Awareness Day vigils and rallies in communities across the country.
