State's Largest "How To Adopt From Foster Care Seminar" Slated For July 9 In Chicago
Event Focuses on Foster and Adoption Opportunities Within the LGBTQ Community
BARRINGTON, Ill., June 9, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In conjunction with The State of Illinois Department of Children and Family Services, the Illinois Center for Adoption and Permanency, Pride Action Tank and Windy City Times media, Let It Be Us is hosting a free event entitled "Call to Action – Foster and Adopt Our Children" with the specific goal of finding foster and adoptive families within Chicago's LGBTQ community on July 9, 2016.
Open to any individual interested in becoming an adoptive or foster parent, the event will be held at the University of Illinois at Chicago Student Center, at 750 S.Halsted Street in Chicago from 10:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. The town hall-style event includes an overview of the foster care license process, the adoption from foster care process and a speaker's bureau featuring teens and parents. Agency representatives and foster families will be on hand to answer questions from attendees. Tickets are limited and reservations are suggested. Participating social service agencies include: Aunt Martha's, ChildServ, Hephzibah, Kaleidoscope, Lakeside Community Committee, Lawrence Hall Youth Services, Lutheran Social Services of Illinois, Little City, National Youth Advocate Program and SOS Children's Villages.
