Highly regarded retail properties specialist becomes Principal, will form retail Dream Team with Derrick Moore

LOS ANGELES, May 14, 2015 /PRNewswire/ - Christopher Cooper, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director of the company's Southern California region, announced today that retail leasing and sales specialist Stephanie Skrbin has joined the firm in Los Angeles.

Effectively immediately, Skrbin becomes a Principal of Avison Young. She will team up with Los Angeles urban retail properties leader Derrick Moore, who is also a Principal. They will focus on developing Avison Young's institutional retail leasing and investment practice in Southern California, as well as mid-cap retail product and clientele. Skrbin will service clients throughout Greater Los Angeles while Moore continues to represent downtown retail investors, owners and tenants.

"Stephanie brings to Avison Young an incredible level of experience in a rapidly growing retail market," comments Cooper. "Her industry expertise will be invaluable as the firm continues to expand its retail real estate practice throughout Southern California. With their unparalleled collective track record and dedication to superior client service, Derrick and Stephanie will give Avison Young a retail 'dream team' in Greater Los Angeles. We couldn't be more pleased to have Stephanie join the Avison Young family."

Skrbin brings to Avison Young 12 years of commercial real estate experience, primarily in the retail sector. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a Principal of commercial real estate brokerage firm Lee & Associates–L.A. North/Ventura, Inc. Her expertise as a retail specialist includes investment sales, landlord and tenant representation, and asset management.

"With Derrick servicing downtown clients and Stephanie catering to suburban clientele, we can leverage our institutional client relationships and compete to represent the larger, institutional-grade retail assets," states Ted Simpson, Avison Young Principal and Managing Director of the company's Downtown Los Angeles office. "There is a lot of consolidation in retail brokerage, so it is imperative that we have a team like Stephanie and Derrick in place to compete for a leading market share."

Adds Moore: "I am looking forward to working with my new colleague. With Stephanie on board, we will be able to expand our urban and suburban mixed-use and retail leasing and sales practice throughout the Greater Los Angeles area and Southern California region."

Moore joined Avison Young in November 2012 when the firm opened its first Downtown Los Angeles office. He leads the company's downtown L.A. retail efforts and has represented numerous national and local tenants, including T-Mobile, Wells Fargo, Subway, FedEx, Rite Aid, Bottle Rock, American Apparel, CVS, Panda Express and McDonald's.

Avison Young opened its first office in Southern California in August 2011. Since then, the Southern California operation has grown to six offices and 120 employees.

"I was drawn to Avison Young because of its collaborative culture and Principal-led ownership model," says Skrbin. "Moreover, Avison Young continues to demonstrate its commitment to grow a state-of-the-art retail services platform that is second to none. I am looking forward to partnering with Derrick. I have known him for much of my career and believe our new business partnership will provide an exceptional opportunity to further Avison Young's best-in-class service delivery to our clients."
