Sterling Ranch Breaks Ground on First Recreation Center
LITTLETON, Colo., Oct. 29, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- As the Sterling Ranch master-planned community wraps its first year of home sales and commercial development, since breaking ground in late 2017, the community is moving into its second year of growth amidst strong momentum. Its latest milestone, celebrated today on site with community residents and partners, is the groundbreaking of the first recreation center to be developed on the 3,400 acre site.
"More than 400 homes are already under development and our first commercial building, the Sterling Center, is opening in phases this Winter," said Harold Smethills, one of the founding visionaries behind the new Douglas County community. Located within Providence Village, the community's first village of nine planned neighborhood districts, this first recreation center will be the largest to be built. It will feature a large pool with a patio deck, a community exercise facility, and locker room facilities. Additionally, a second floor "Great Hall," with an adjoining catering kitchen facility, will be provided for the benefit of community events and gatherings. The outdoor areas around the recreation center will also provide flexible use space and facilities for outdoor play and gathering, including private party pavilions, thus creating a thriving community meeting point fit for a multitude of uses.
The building's designer, Mike Woodley of Woodley Architectural Group, says, "This recreation center has been designed to fit well within Colorado's uniquely beautiful scenery. Access to this first Recreation Center's exercise facility will be provided to all residents as an amenity to their home purchase. It will host both cardio equipment weight equipment and will be provided free for resident use. The facility is slated for completion in late 2019.
