Steven M. Martinez Named Managing Director at Stroz Friedberg

NEW YORK, Feb. 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Stroz Friedberg, LLC, a global investigations, intelligence, and risk services company, today announced that Steven M. Martinez has been named Managing Director. Based in Los Angeles, Martinez will focus on helping clients address critical information and physical security risks and to mitigate long-term threats impacting their business operations.

For nearly three decades, Martinez held a series of positions within the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI). Most recently, he was the Executive Assistant Director in charge of the FBI's Science and Technology Branch. While there, he was responsible for developing and deploying sophisticated operational technologies, commanding the FBI's traditional and digital forensic laboratories, and delivering computerized law enforcement information sharing and identification services worldwide.

Martinez also served as head of the FBI's Los Angeles and Las Vegas field offices, respectively, where he directed hundreds of agents in an array of investigations involving significant cyber, criminal, and crisis management matters; counterterrorism, and counterintelligence. In addition, Martinez served in the top leadership post in the FBI's Cyber Division, where he spearheaded multi-agency strategies to mitigate threats and dismantle large-scale botnets impacting internet service providers threatening thousands of commercial networks. Notably, he helped identify the culprits behind the Mytob and Zotob worm attacks.

Martinez was awarded the FBI Medal for Meritorious Achievement for his service as the FBI's first On-scene Commander of FBI personnel deployed to Iraq during the initial combat phase of Operation Iraqi Freedom. He was also honored with the Presidential Rank Award for Meritorious Service as a U.S. government senior executive. Martinez holds a B.A. (magna cum laude) in Government from St. Mary's College in California. He also received a Masters in Political Science from University of California, Berkeley.
