TALLAHASSEE, Fla., Sept. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- When shoppers walk on the lot at McGrath Lexus in Westmont, Illinois, they have instant access to vehicle histories without having to ask! Using a new product developed by Florida-based Auto Data Direct, Kathy Mallet, McGrath's Internet Manager, says consumers are getting what they want out of their car shopping experience.
The "StiQR", a label printed by the dealer and affixed to the car, uses QR code technology allowing consumers to scan the code with their smartphone and instantly receive a vehicle history from the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System (NMVTIS). "Our customers love it and it makes the experience more open and friendly for them," says Mallet. "They don't have to ask for the vehicle's background. We're giving it to them up front."
Ed Mallof, President of Illinois-based MAN Marketing introduced the concept to Mallet. "As an advertising agency representing automobile dealers, I'm always looking for new tools for my clients," says Mallof. "The StiQR is a unique approach to promoting details about a car and works for the dealership whether they're open or not." Mallof notes this is cutting-edge technology for dealerships but believes use of the StiQR will grow nationally.
Mallet agrees. "Our lot is closed on Sunday and the StiQR allows weekend shoppers to access information without anyone from our sales team present." In addition to receiving a vehicle history, the consumer is taken to a website that provides vehicle details and photos to assist with their purchase decision. She says the dealership has received very positive feedback from their customers who view this new service as taking an extra step on their behalf to be informed shoppers. "We're the only dealership in our area offering the StiQR so it gives us a unique edge." McGrath Lexus sells 200 cars monthly.
From the dealership's standpoint, Mallet says use of the product is easy and the customer support received from Auto Data Direct is excellent. "This is new to us so when we've had questions, they are very responsive and resolve any issues immediately," she says. "The product itself is easy to print and affix to the car and the material holds up to our mid-western weather. It's a valuable tool for us."
