Stop Iran Rally in Times Square Goes National; Thousands Expected to Protest Iran Deal on Wednesday
NEW YORK, July 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Thousands of Americans will gather in Times Square on Wednesday from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. to demand Congress vote down the Iran deal, as the protest movement gathers pace across the country.
To give greater echo to what is expected to be the largest bipartisan protests against the Iranian nuclear deal, the Stop Iran Rally in Times Square is now being mirrored by rallies in Ft. Lauderdale, Phoenix, Los Angeles and even Toronto, Canada, according to organizers.
America is taking to the streets to object to this bad deal. Citizen groups are coming to New York in buses and caravans from Columbus, Chicago, Wilmington, Philadelphia and Charlotte to make their voices heard.
The main event will also be streamed live via the www.StopIranRally.org website.
The list of speakers has now reached two dozen high-profile leaders, with the addition of Trent Franks, U.S. Representative for Arizona's 8th congressional district, Vice-Chair of the Subcommittee on Emerging Threats and Capabilities on the House Armed Services Committee, and a member of the Strategic Forces subcommittee.
Congressman Franks joins many prominent leaders, including former Governor George Pataki, legendary Manhattan DA Robert Morgenthau, plus radio personalities from across the New York dial, as well as national security leaders, including James Woolsey, former Director of the CIA, retired Navy admirals and Army generals, and national activists and authors Alan Dershowitz and Monica Crowley.
National television media will be covering from the podium in Times Square, with interviews of the speakers now being coordinated by the Stop Iran Rally Coalition media team.
The Coalition coordinators are calling on Americans, especially New Yorkers, to contact their lawmakers to protest the deal.
"Strip away the rhetoric and it's clear this deal gives Iran everything they asked for -- just read what's been written in Tehran about this bad deal," said Jeffrey Wiesenfeld, one of the rally coordinators. "Only in America are we deceiving ourselves."
"New York Senator Charles Schumer has the votes to stop this madness," Wiesenfeld said. "The public will not be fooled again; Americans will not stand for another North Korea. If this deal is not stopped, New York voters will know whom to blame."
