Strategic Value Partners Names Goldman Sachs Executive Matt Gibson as President

GREENWICH, Conn., Sept. 16, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Strategic Value Partners, LLC ("SVP"), a global alternative investment firm, today announced the appointment of Matt Gibson as President, effective February 2027. Matt joins SVP after more than 25 years at Goldman Sachs, including 16 years as a Partner, where he held senior leadership positions across investment banking and asset management. Most recently, he has been leading the Global Client Business within Goldman Sachs Asset Management, overseeing 1,000-plus sales and product specialist professionals across the institutional, wealth and insurance client distribution channels.

As President, Matt will lead the firm's non-investment activities, including client relations, firmwide infrastructure and drive longer-term strategic initiatives that build on the firm's existing platform. In addition to his primary duties, he will be actively engaged in deal sourcing in industry sectors like power and infrastructure where he has domain knowledge. Matt will be a member of the firm's management and investment committees and report to SVP Founder and CIO Victor Khosla.
