FARMINGDALE, N.Y., Nov. 30, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Doni-Jo Minor-Munro of Santa Maria, California, esteemed member of Strathmore's Who's Who has been now been selected as Bio of the Month of November 2017 for her accomplishments in the field of American Indian Education Programs. She has also been named as a 2017 Roundtable Member.
Doni-Jo Minor-Munro is a Native American Spiritualist who currently serves as Director of Indian Education at the Universal Life Church. In addition, Ms. Munro is the CEO/CFO of Our Children Are Sacred, Inc./American Indian Education Programs. Ms. Munro is Yuchi Creek (a Yuchi tribal member enrolled with the Creek Nation). She attended the University of Oregon College of Education and is an advocate of urban Indian rights and laws. During her interview with Corine Fairbanks (Oglala Dakota), Ms. Munro offered some valuable insight into the American Indian experience in her country. She also explained the path which led to her present capacity as Director of Indian Education: Doni-Jo Minor-Munro began her career as a volunteer when her son was in pre-school (early 1990s). During one fateful Thanksgiving time, a retired principal and friend of Ms. Munro was using a buffalo hide and some handmade items to teach lessons to the area's students. Rather than the usual "Pilgrim & Squanto stuff", which Ms. Munro found offensive, she asked the former principal if she could offer an alternative lesson. After being generously granted this opportunity, Doni-Jo Minor Munro's unique vision and educational style was in high demand as word spread far and wide, ultimately landing her in the present position.
The Roundtable and Bio of the Month memberships are allotted to a particular individual by America's Registry of Outstanding Professionals for excellence and performance in their chosen career. Doni-Jo Minor-Munro has a proven record of achievement in the field of American Indian Education Programs, therefore, she has earned this honor. Strathmore's Who's Who is proud to recognize her.
