StreamUnlimited announces StreamSDK availability on MediaTek SOC

VIENNA, April 12, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- StreamSDK, acknowledged in the audio streaming industry as the most diverse and feature-rich wireless audio streaming software stack, is now available on the MT8516 chipset from MediaTek. StreamUnlimited developed StreamSDK to be flexible enough to run on multiple hardware configurations, resulting in opportunity for brand customers looking to remain with their chosen SoC supplier or to select the best hardware module for the product feature set, price point and target market. The MT8516 chipset from MediaTek is a popular integrated application processing platform and the combination with StreamSDK enables seamless product integration.

Features of the MT8516 chipset include an integrated quad-core 64-bit ARM Cortex A35 MP Core operating up to 1.3 GHz, raw NAND and eMMC support, WiFi, Bluetooth 5 and BTLE 4.0 with RF built-in and multiple I/O including I2S x2 (4 channels), TDM (up to 8 channels), PDM (2 channels), SPDIF Rx/Tx and embedded 2 channel stereo audio DAC and ADC. The MT8516 platform also supports Dual-band (2.4 GHz and 5 GHz) 2x2 802.11ac Wi-Fi with MU-MIMO.

Providing a powerful quad core platform and 1.3GHz CPU, feature integration possibilities include all popular online music streaming services, the Google Assistant, Chromecast built-in, Amazon Alexa and AirPlay 2 enabled products, whilst offering a future proof solution optimized for cost and low power consumption.

"The collaboration with MediaTek in porting our StreamSDK to their MT8516 chipset is invaluable in enabling both companies to offer a complete software and hardware option for existing and new business," said Frits Wittgrefe, CEO at StreamUnlimited. "Our solutions including StreamSDK software address the feature sets and ecosystems in high consumer demand and relieve the burden on our brand customers striving to create state-of –the-art products".

"It's a smart combination to bring StreamUnlimited's StreamSDK to MediaTek's MT8516 platform which is known for its superior audio quality, processing power and power savings. "This combination of hardware and software, along with support for the latest online music streaming services, opens the door for companies that want to bring voice assistants to the smart speaker market," said Alan Hsu, General Manager of MediaTek's Intelligent Multimedia Business Unit.

The MediaTek platform with embedded StreamSDK features will be available for demonstration at the Hong Kong Electronics Fair from 13-16 April 2019.
