Student leaders from across the country will travel to Washington, D.C., to bring the next generation's perspective to the national conversation on America's teacher pipeline
FCCLA, the National FFA Organization, FBLA, and SkillsUSA student leaders will take the national stage October 8 to address one urgent question: What will it take for today's students to choose teaching?
WASHINGTON, Oct. 5, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- As schools and communities across the country confront educator shortages, National Be A Teacher Day™ is putting the focus on the people whose career decisions will help shape what comes next: students.
On Thursday, October 8, student leaders from leading Career and Technical Student Organizations will gather at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., for a national press event examining what attracts young people to teaching, what may discourage them from entering the profession, and what could inspire more students to pursue careers in education.
The event marks National Be A Teacher Day™, a nationwide initiative developed and led by Family, Career and Community Leaders of America (FCCLA) to strengthen the future educator pipeline, elevate the teaching profession, and encourage students to explore careers in education.
Representatives from FCCLA, FBLA, the National FFA Organization, and SkillsUSA will offer a perspective often missing from national discussions about the educator workforce: the voices of the students who will ultimately decide whether teaching is part of their future.
Student leaders will discuss how educators influence career decisions and what schools, colleges, communities, employers, and policymakers can do to make education a more compelling career path.
For reporters covering education, workforce development, Career and Technical Education, labor, federal policy, or the future of America's schools, the event provides direct access to student leaders and firsthand insight into the factors shaping the next generation of educators.
