Students from Coastal Carolina University Visit RICS Headquarters in London

CONWAY, S.C., June 2, 2017 /PRNewswire/ --The Wall Fellows, a select group of students representing Coastal Carolina University's prestigious E. Craig Wall Sr. College of Business, recently visited the London headquarters of the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS).  The visit was arranged by CCU's Grant Center for Real Estate and Economic Development as part of its program relating to international property.

Coastal Carolina University was the first university in the United States to become an Academic Supporter of the International Ethics Standards Coalition, which is led by RICS.

Situated in the Center of London, Parliament Square, Westminster, the headquarters building sits opposite the Houses of Parliament.

RICS is a leading international professional body in the fields of land, property and construction. Its designations "MRICS" and "FRICS" are widely recognized around the world. Its members, known as "Chartered Surveyors", are engaged in a wide range of real estate related activities, including valuation, property management, project management brokerage, town planning, construction, supervision, development and investment consultancy.

RICS was founded in London in 1868 and now has approximately 120,000 members active in more than 140 countries. In addition, there are 81,000 student members preparing for professional qualification.

RICS works in collaboration with international organizations such as the United Nations, the World Bank and the European Union in promoting high standards of land development and sustainability. It is regularly consulted by government bodies on economic and legislative matters affecting property and construction.

RICS was a founder member in 2013 of a coalition to develop International Property Measurement Standards.  It was also a founder member in 2014 of the International Ethics Standards Coalition.

The tour of the historic RICS headquarters was hosted by Peter Bolton King FRICS, who is the Institution's Global Property Standards Director and serves as the current Chairman of the International Ethics Standards Coalition. He explained the history of the building and of the Institution and the role currently played by RICS in property markets worldwide.
