StudyDog Home Edition Now Available for Parents
Used in over 3,000 schools nationwide, online reading program StudyDog is now available for parents to use at home
BEAVERTON, Ore., Oct. 20, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- StudyDog (http://home.studydog.com/parents/), the only online reading program that customizes each child's learning experience right from the start, today announced the launch of its home edition. For the past five years, StudyDog has been used in 3,000 schools across the country. Now, parents can use StudyDog to bolster their children's learning at home.
StudyDog's technology platform differentiates it from other online reading programs on the market. Set in a one-on-one computer environment, a pretest is given to the child before the lessons begin. This tells StudyDog the precise reading level of the individual. StudyDog follows a simple but effective learning model based on continuous evaluation and assessment--as the child moves through each level, he receives tailored lessons suited to his particular aptitude. StudyDog provides constant updates on the child's progress so parents can keep track of their improvement.
"StudyDog is a blend of advanced technology and research-based curriculum," said Deme Clainos, the company's founder and CEO. "Because of this unique packaging, StudyDog helps children learn to read quickly without the emotional stress inherent to new or deficient readers."
Created for children ages 4-8, StudyDog is designed for students at all reading levels but automatically detects struggling readers and adapts lessons to their ability. Over 90 percent of emerging readers who use StudyDog gain a full grade's worth of reading improvement in as little as 10-14 weeks.(1) The program's reading curriculum has been scientifically developed and follows all State Language Arts standards as well as the Core Common standards. The method of instruction is deliberate and follows the guidelines of the National Reading Panel. Further, the program focuses on the critical reading years—if kids are not reading well by age 8, they may never catch up—to support a child's learning when it matters most.
"We have used StudyDog in our school for over two years now and have seen great success in the way the program accelerates students' learning at all levels, in a user-friendly way," says Linda DeBerry, principal of Dyersburg Primary School in Tennessee. "Whether a child is struggling or simply hungry for more instruction, StudyDog moves them to reading competency. And now that StudyDog is available in the home, there's an opportunity for students to continue literacy instruction outside the school in a tech-friendly and inviting way."
According to a report by the Southwest Educational Development Laboratory, children do better in school when their parents are involved in their education.(2) StudyDog enables parents to kick-start their child's reading right from the beginning and makes it possible for them to help their children not only catch up, but to succeed in their reading.
About StudyDog
StudyDog was founded in 2002 on the belief that success in life begins with reading. With this objective in mind the StudyDog designed a full primary reading system that is currently a rapidly growing reading program in schools nationwide.
The StudyDog reading curriculum is research-based and was developed on principles described by the National Reading Panel and other key reading experts. StudyDog consolidates these principles and delivers them in a unique way so children stick with the program for an extended period of time to master the skills being taught.
