Suarez Corporation Industries Moves EdenPURE® Manufacturing to North Canton, Ohio

SCI Takes 200,000 sq. ft. in Former Hoover Plant, Consolidating Operations and Adding 100 New Jobs

May 10, 2011, 10:00 ET from Suarez Corporation Industries

NORTH CANTON, Ohio, May 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In an innovative move to all-American manufacturing, Suarez Corporation Industries (SCI) today announced a new manufacturing and distribution facility in North Canton located in the former Hoover Vacuum Cleaner facility.

The deal announced today is the result of three years of work sourcing components, equipment and technology from local suppliers. The privately-held company asked for no state or federal tax relief or other support. The City of North Canton has offered, subject to approval by City Council, a refundable occupancy grant to assist with the transition to the new facility and ramp up of manufacturing. The city will refund up to 50 percent of SCI employees' and affiliates' paid city income tax back to the company at the end of each year for the first two years.

The company will consolidate operations from its existing two facilities located near the Akron-Canton Airport in Green and Plain Townships, moving 180 jobs to the Hoover District. The company expects to hire an additional 100 people as it ramps up manufacturing operations in the new facility.

"This is a milestone for our company," Ben Suarez, company founder and CEO, said. "I want to thank our hometown for its support as well as our many innovative and hard-working associates and partners who help us produce what we think are the best quality products in the world right here in the USA. Our best selling EdenPURE® Infrared Portable Heater will now be built in America, using an entirely American supply chain. Many of the components are unique and proprietary to us, such as the 500-watt quartz bulbs developed and manufactured to our specifications by Osram Sylvania Lamp Technology in New Jersey."

"We couldn't be more pleased and proud to help our friends at SCI relocate to the City of North Canton. North Canton will now be known as the Home of EdenPURE," Mayor David Held said. "The company is a mainstay of our community, as are many of their associates who live and work here. It's a great company and we applaud them for their commitment to our community."

SCI was founded by Ben Suarez in 1968 as a mail order business run out of his North Canton home. Today the company is a diverse multi-channel marketing and media company, recognized for the development of innovative products for better living sold around the world. From fashion jewelry to collectibles to health and fitness to household convenience and to the famous EdenPURE heater, the company continues to grow through product innovation and multi-channel marketing.

The move to the new facility is expected to take place in June, with the plant fully operational in time for the fall and winter heating seasons.
