FORT WORTH, Texas, Jan. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Sundance Square President and CEO Johnny Campbell is best known for bringing national prominence to the residential and retail heart of Fort Worth, but he'll tell a different story at the 8th annual Breakfast with the Mayor benefiting the DRC, formerly Day Resource Center for the Homeless.
Campbell will describe his remarkable friendship with Charles "Charlie" Joyner, who was homeless in Fort Worth for 20 years until his death in May 2015.
Campbell and Joyner often crossed paths at the corner of Houston and 3rd streets in the heart of Sundance Square, where Joyner spent his days greeting passersby and making lifelong friends, Campbell among them.
Their friendship inspired the theme, "Heart of the City," of the 8th annual Breakfast with the Mayor. The event benefits the DRC, a homeless services organization that provides downtown outreach, shelter, housing and other solutions to 3,000 individuals and families annually.
Guest of honor Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price, event co-chair Devan Allen, honorary chair J.R. Labbe and DRC Executive Director Bruce Frankel also are scheduled to speak at the event.
The 8th annual Breakfast with the Mayor is scheduled from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Friday, February 5, 2016 at The Fort Worth Club Horizon Room & Terrace in downtown Fort Worth. Contact [email protected] or 817-575-7948 for more information about Breakfast with the Mayor.
