SunGard Availability Services Announces New Agreement with Amerinet, Inc.

Leaders in Healthcare Services Join Forces, Offer Healthcare Organizations Disaster Recovery and Remote Hosting Solutions

Apr 11, 2013, 09:00 ET from SunGard Availability Services

WAYNE, Pa., April 11, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SunGard Availability Services, the leading provider of information availability and disaster recovery services, today announced a new agreement with Amerinet, Inc., a leading healthcare solutions organization, offering recovery and managed remote hosting services to their more than 60,000 members. Together the companies will protect Amerinet's members from the risks associated with clinical and business system outages, focusing on infrastructure management expertise.

With the growing adoption of the Electronic Health Records (EHR), healthcare organizations are looking for solutions to assist with the recovery, security and regulatory compliance needs for these digital patient records. Remote managed hosting and cloud services, a hot topic in healthcare, will also be offered to Amerinet members as a way to further reduce capital expenditures while increasing resiliency, flexibility and scalability.

In addition to recovery services, security issues around Protected Health Information (PHI) in the cloud remain a top concern; however, healthcare organizations are already moving to virtual environments, suggesting that a move to the Cloud for business and, eventually, clinical applications, isn't far behind.

"Amerinet has repeatedly heard from our members the need for recovery services when disasters like Hurricane Sandy strike. In addition, with the increase of EHR implementations and the transition to cloud technology, the need for adoption of information technology security has escalated," said John Vinarsky, Vice President, Executive Resources, Office Solutions and Information Technology, Amerinet, Inc. "Amerinet has kept a close pulse on the IT market for healthcare organizations, and we're excited to join forces with SunGard Availability Services to help resolve our members' pain points surrounding recovery service needs."

The dramatic growth in the number of natural disasters, including more than 200 natural disasters in 2012 alone, has also triggered healthcare providers and their boards to reexamine existing plans for resiliency and recovery.

"As a result of our recent experience with Hurricane Sandy, where we recovered 117 customers, and more than 30 years of recovering healthcare organizations, SunGard Availability Services has refined our expertise around application availability and data protection services specific to healthcare environments. Recovery should be at the forefront of IT considerations for healthcare organizations, certainly those considering EHR adoption or implementing these systems," said Tim Carney, Vice President, Healthcare Sales, SunGard Availability Services. "Teaming with Amerinet is an exciting opportunity for SunGard Availability Services to extend our offerings to healthcare organizations around the country."
