SYA's 50th Anniversary Annual Fund Campaign Raises $1,429,748 Breaking Previous Record
NORTH ANDOVER, Mass., July 24, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- School Year Abroad (SYA) has announced that its 50th Anniversary Annual Fund has surpassed all prior year totals, setting a new record during its milestone year. Contributions to the Annual Fund crossed the million dollar threshold for the second year in a row, reaching $1,429,748, a 42% increase over last year. Gifts were received from 1,401 supporters.
"This year's Annual Fund total is outstanding," said President Jack Creeden. "I applaud everyone's hard work toward the incredible success of this year's campaign. It's testament to what SYA means to people, and our school has been enhanced in countless ways as a result of this generosity. Philanthropic support is vital to SYA's continued mission to deliver an extraordinary educational journey of becoming for our students. In this 50th year, there has been a higher level of excitement and our donors have stepped up in a huge way to support us. For that we are truly grateful."
The success of the Annual Fund in 2013-14 positioned SYA for a groundbreaking 50th anniversary year. SYA seized the opportunity to challenge its community to again show their commitment. A group of generous alumni and parents rose to that challenge with each at least doubling their previous gifts to SYA and pledging $50,000 to the 50th Anniversary Annual Fund. This enabled SYA to announce a $250,000 matching opportunity. Alumni from all countries and years, along with trustees, parents, faculty, staff and other friends of SYA gave generously in response, more than meeting the match and leading SYA to its most successful Annual Fund yet.
Alexa Chae, alumna of the France Class of 1990, member of SYA's Philanthropy Council and 2014-15 Annual Fund chair, expressed her appreciation to all the volunteers who made this historic total possible. "This success is due to the many loyal donors and volunteers who believe in SYA and gave their time and resources to ensure we thrive into the future. This includes the alumni and parent challengers, as well as trustees, fellow Philanthropy Council members, young alumni country chairs and class agents, all who labored faithfully on SYA's behalf."
