Sylvie Barak, Rising Technology Journalist and Social Media Pioneer, Joins UBM Electronics

In this highly visible position, Barak will be responsible for breaking news and developing news analysis and opinion articles on the electronics industry, with a focus on the key underlying technologies that impact systems, hardware and software.  She also will create unique, high-impact content that engages an engineering audience by leveraging leading edge multi-media technology and social media platforms.

A vibrant on-camera presence, Barak has extensive broadcasting skills and experience in developing weekly video segments, most recently as Editorial Director for RCR Wireless.  In addition to spearheading a weekly video news roundup, she also created and launched RCR Unplugged, an innovative online platform for news, trend and opinion articles, and social media engagement.

An early pioneer in social media and a popular personality on Twitter and Facebook, she developed a social media strategy for the INQUIRER in 2008, growing the number of followers by over 300 percent. Fluent in five languages, Barak's reporting has taken her around the world, from her first job in journalism as an Army Reporter in Tel Aviv to the recent creation of a global documentary series focusing on the regional and socio-economic impact of leading-edge wireless technologies. She holds a BA in Political Science and History from Tel Aviv University.
