To further promote engineering design in schools and recognize students for their design talents and skills, Synergis created two competitions. The Synergis Architectural Design Competition focuses on green living. Students will design a cost-effective home that is fully handicapped accessible, incorporates features that would accommodate and enhance the lifestyles of seniors, and incorporates Green Building and Sustainable Design features needed for LEED Certification. The Synergis-F1 Design Competition follows the Pennsylvania F1 rules to design a CO2 powered model racing car.
All entries for the competitions must be in digital format and received at Synergis' headquarters by April 1, 2011. For each design competition, the first place team will win $1000 and the second place, $500. The winning teams will be invited to display their designs during Synergis University on May 17.
"We are continually looking for new ways to foster the growth of design in schools, and to recognize the schools and students involved in design innovation," said Kristen Tomasic, Vice President, Synergis Engineering Design Solutions. "These two competitions were created to do just this. We are excited about having the winners from the competitions attend Synergis University, which will give them a unique opportunity to meet engineers and hear first-hand what they are learning to stay ahead in their positions."
