FORT MYERS, Fla., June 7 /PRNewswire/ -- T3, a Fort Myers, FL – based telecommunications and technology provider, today announced that its subsidiary, Eastern Lee County Fiber, LLC, has made the Governor's recommended list for the Broadband Stimulus Grants for its proposed fiber network for Lee County.  The recommendation was made in response to a request of the National Telecommunications and Information Administration as outlined in the Recovery Act.  Eastern Lee County has been designated by Florida Governor Charlie Crist's administration as a 'high priority' area in need of broadband infrastructure.

T3 recently established Eastern Lee County Fiber, LLC to address the need for a communications infrastructure that is capable of delivering today's media intensive applications to residents and businesses in parts of Southwest Florida.  "Lee County Fiber has been founded with a very clear mission.  We are focused on creating the best fiber optic broadband network possible to deliver new opportunities and applications to bandwidth starved areas of Florida," announced Adam Sewall, President and CEO of T3.  "Under the T3 brand, we will continue to grow and deliver communications services to businesses in Florida.  Lee County Fiber will complement our business by helping create the high capacity fiber networks that can deliver such services that service providers (carriers) as well as business and residents demand in today's app-hungry and data intensive culture," concluded Sewall.

"If awarded, this grant will enable the creation of a 160 mile high speed fiber network through Eastern Lee County providing service to over 100 anchor tenants.  This stimulus project will mean nearly $16 million in new federal funds for Lee County, the creation of over 200 direct and indirect jobs, and will provide access to low-cost, high-speed broadband services to over 53,000 potential households and 3,000 businesses," said Jeff Green, CFO of T3.  "Eastern Lee Fiber was one of 85 applications submitted to the state and we are very pleased to be on a list of only 8 infrastructure projects that was recommended by the Governor to the federal level.  Many of our customers provided letters of support for our application, and this clearly made the difference.  We expect that the winning grant applications could be announced as early as this month," continued Green.
