The recently unveiled site provides a seamless customer experience across desktop, tablet, and smartphone with improved page performance across all breakpoints in preparation for peak holiday traffic.
The responsive site (www.rue21.com) launched on September 20th, 2017 has performed exceedingly well across all breakpoints. While rue21 has successfully utilized different desktop and m-dot mobile sites for years, their recent eCommerce traffic growth made it increasingly clear that more scalable and robust architecture is required to support it. Moreover, the separation of sites took away focus, time, and resources needed for content management and functionalities in both breakpoints.
With the launch of the new responsive site, rue21 has seen nearly a 50% reduction in page size, an improvement in page load performance, and a reduction of web transaction time by more than 50%. TAISTech worked collaboratively with Spark::red, a managed hosting provider specializing in the Oracle Commerce platform, to launch the robust and high-performance site. As part of this project, TAISTech's expert Oracle Commerce team executed responsive creative design, new architecture design and implementation of the responsive site, while Spark::red focused on the back-end server tuning, migration from the existing CDN provider to Cloudflare and making custom infrastructure configuration changes to the new architecture. These joint efforts resulted in significant performance gains for rue21.
