Taiwan Excellence Showcase Takes Over Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall from October 21st to 25th

NEW YORK, Oct. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The Taiwan Excellence Showcase is coming to New York City for the first time from Tuesday, October 21st to Saturday, October 25th, 2014. Designed for connectivity, Grand Central Terminal's Vanderbilt Hall will be transformed into a five-day, free interactive event for all ages that showcases Taiwan's innovative design and functionality.

The showcase will kick off with an opening ceremony on Tuesday, October 21st at 11:00 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony featuring representatives from the Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA) and VIP guests, and performances by vibraphonist and composer Yuhan-Su and international progressive rock band, The Hsu-nami. Throughout the week additional activities will be held designed to entertain, inform, and excite consumers about Taiwanese products including, performances by violinist Chia-Yin Carol Ma, product demonstrations, and giveaways.

Grand Central Terminal's 500,000 daily visitors will have the chance to try out over 150 award-winning Taiwanese products from more than 65 Taiwan Excellence brands, spanning the consumer electronics, home & decor, home care medical, sporting, and lifestyle industries.

The Taiwan Excellence Showcase is an initiative of Taiwan's Ministry of Economy Affairs, through the Bureau of Foreign Trade (BOFT), carried out by TAITRA. "TAITRA is hosting this event in New York City to increase consumer awareness of how Taiwan Excellence brands can enhance their lifestyles," said Francis Kuo-Hsin Liang, Chairman of TAITRA. Taiwan, America's 12th Largest Trading Partner

According to the Office of the United States Trade Representative, Taiwan was ranked the United States' 12th largest trading partner in 2013, with $64 billion in total goods traded. This places Taiwan ahead of countries such as India and Italy.
