Take a Diamond Jubilee Break with Holiday Hypermarket in June

One in ten Brits is planning to benefit from the Queen's Diamond Jubilee weekend by taking a break of their own, say Holiday Hypermarket. A poll of more than two-thousand British adults was commissioned by the Association of British Travel Agents (ABTA) to determine what they will be doing between June 2 and 5: the bank holiday weekend that marks the Queen's Diamond Jubilee this year.

The independent survey - conducted by YouGov Plc. - found that a large number of Brits plan to take three extra days off to get a nine-day holiday, and while many plan to have a "staycation", some have booked overseas holidays - around the same number that are planning to go overseas for Easter.

While guaranteed sunshine is one draw-card for holidays before the peak season, another appeal is the affordable cost of last minute holidays to countries in Europe and the Mediterranean, including the Canary and Balearic Islands, Spain, Greece and Turkey.

According to the YouGov figures, the most likely age group to take advantage of the extended weekend in June are those aged between 18 and 24, of which 12 per cent plan to take a foreign break or vacation at home.
