Talk Radio Coming to Capitol Hill. Will Gauge Trump's Progress on Immigration, Urge Congress to Act

WASHINGTON, June 7, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In the 2016 election, voters across the country demanded that our immigration policies serve the interests of the nation and that our immigration laws be effectively enforced. President Trump promised to secure our borders and protect American workers and taxpayers, but he can't do it alone.  Is Congress paying attention the voters, or will it remain missing in action and instead return to business as usual in Washington?

On June 28 and 29, more than 60 talk radio hosts from around the country will be in Washington, D.C., for the 11th annual Hold Their Feet to the Fire radio row event sponsored by the Federation for American Immigration Reform (FAIR). The aim of the talk hosts and FAIR is to hold a national conversation with voters in all 50 states about what is happening, what isn't happening, and what needs to be done to get things moving.

"The goal of this year's event is to call upon President Trump to honor the promise he made to voters in 2016 and demand that the 115th Congress implements real reforms to our nation's immigration policies," said Bob Dane, executive director of FAIR.  "Time is of the essence and the president's legislative priorities on immigration need to start moving forward."

"Unlike past years, Hold Their Feet to the Fire 2017 will not focus on stopping harmful immigration legislation and lawless executive policies that undermine the security and interests of the American people. This year it's different," Dane continued. "Our job now is to make sure that promises made to the American people are fulfilled."

Over 60 talk radio personalities and dozens of members of Congress, administration officials, policy experts, law enforcement professionals, and people whose lives have been forever impacted by our failed immigration policies will discuss a host of issues, including:

• Enhancing border security and construction of a secure border fence.
• Reversing reckless and unconstitutional Obama-era executive policies.
• The need for mandatory E-Verify to discourage illegal immigration and protect American workers.
• Ensuring proper vetting of immigrants and refugees from countries known to harbor or support terrorism.
• Eliminating sanctuary policies that protect illegal aliens and endanger public safety.
• Reforming our legal immigration policy to ensure that the people we admit can succeed and benefit the nation.

Credentialed media are encouraged to attend and have unrestricted access to all hosts and the broad spectrum of guest interviewees on-site. Feet to Fire 2017 will take place at the Phoenix Park Hotel, 520 North Capitol Street from 6 am until 9 pm on June 28 and 29.
