TD Bank Works with The Nature Conservancy to Protect Central Florida Forestland

CHERRY HILL, N.J., June 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- TD Bank, America's Most Convenient Bank^®, today announced that it has committed to protect 107 acres of forest in the Wekiva-Ocala Greenway as part of its TD Forests program. Through a collaboration with The Nature Conservancy, the bank will help preserve the crucial pine, cabbage palm and oak forestland called Hollywood Pines in northern Lake County.

TD Forests is a North American initiative of TD Bank and its parent company, TD Bank Group (TD). The program's goals are to increase the area of protected forest habitat and promote the responsible use of paper, including reducing the bank's paper usage by 20 percent by 2015. In addition, TD Forests works to reintroduce trees to urban areas through its TD Tree Days and TD Green Streets initiatives, and to support local parks and open spaces that strengthen communities.

TD Bank's investment in the Central Florida forest acreage – which is the equivalent of 82 football fields in area – encompasses more than 214,000 trees and a vital habitat for Florida's black bears, scrub jays and other wildlife. The Hollywood Pines area covers more than 600 acres.
