Tea Party/Patriot Movement Group Plans "National Government Spending Addiction Intervention Week"

One of Movement's Largest Activists Networks Looks to Counter Beltway Spending Addiction Through National Action Initiative

MAXWELL, Iowa, July 21, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- In what may be one of the most aggressive efforts within the Tea Party/Patriot movement to date, Grassfire Nation's Patriot Action Network is launching a series of action-based initiatives engaging activists in the debt ceiling debate. The Patriot Action Network, a 50 state network of more than 90,000 active members, will officially kick-off the "National Government Spending Addiction Intervention Week" Monday, July 25th, 2011.

The campaign will begin with a nationwide Tele-Townhall scheduled for 4:00 PM ET on July 25th. Following the launch conference, Patriot Action Network will roll out www.BeltwayAddicts.com, a web hub featuring daily action items and information portals for movement activists.

Organizers of the "National Government Spending Addicts Intervention Week" were also involved in the 2009 "Recess Rallies" and are preparing a similar model going into the August recess of 2011. Actions being planned for the week include Congressional office "interventions", phone-your-rep pushes, petition drives, social media messaging/intervention campaigns, member contests and more.

"We the people are being spent into oblivion by spending addicts in Washington. Our only real hope is to take collaborative action to ensure our Representatives know full well where we stand on the issue," said Eric Odom, an event organizer with the group.
