Teachers' Insurance Plan of NJ Awards Grant Allowing NJ School to "Adopt-A-Soldier"

RED BANK, N.J., April 11, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Sixth grade world geography students at Cove Road Elementary School in Hazlet Township are supporting an American soldier currently serving in the Armed Forces in Afghanistan. Funded by a grant from Plymouth Rock Assurance - Teachers' Insurance Plan of NJ, a New Jersey only auto insurance company, the Cove Road Elementary School's "Adopt-A-Soldier" program will allow the students to support an American serving on our country's behalf. Teachers' Insurance donated the grant through their Quotes for Cash® program, which will help reduce shipping costs for the students to send letters and monthly care packages to their "adopted" soldier.

The grant was submitted by sixth grade teacher Melissa Zampella, who is very excited that Teachers' Insurance is supporting this special project for her students. "I want my students to develop a relationship with a soldier on active duty while learning about his or her experiences and stories in other regions of the world," said Zampella. The grant application notes the goal of the project, which is for students to have a better perspective about different areas of the world while also cultivating a sense of pride and patriotism among the students.

Hazlet Township School District has been a Quotes for Cash partner since 2009. All school districts throughout New Jersey are invited to join the Quotes for Cash program so that teachers and schools have the ability to apply for special grant funding and the opportunity to conduct enrichment projects for their students.
