TEL AVIV, Israel, January 24, 2018 /PRNewswire/ --
Team8 portfolio company Hysolate, inventor of a disruptive hybrid endpoint architecture, announced today its launch out of stealth along with the public launch of its first product and the raising of $8 million, led by cybersecurity foundry Team8 and Eric Schmidt's Innovation Endeavors.
Hysolate was founded by Tal Zamir, a veteran of an elite Israeli cyber unit and former R&D leader in Wanova (acquired by VMware), and Dan Dinnar, former CEO of HexaTier (acquired by Huawei) and executive sales officer at CyberArk Software, from its founding sales team and through its successful IPO in 2014.
In light of the rising number of cyber threats, enterprises typically try to lock down user devices, preventing users from fully browsing the web, installing new apps, connecting USB devices or communicating effectively with 3rd parties or the cloud. This frustrates employees and significantly decreases productivity. In other cases, enterprises adopt an "air gap" security model that requires users to actually carry two laptops: one unrestricted laptop for full Internet use and another strictly restricted laptop for privileged corporate access. While this dramatically improves security, productivity is further degraded.
Hysolate built its platform upon an alternative "hybrid" architecture that eliminates these challenges. It allows enterprises to run multiple side-by-side operating systems on a single workstation, providing a seamless experience for end-users while maintaining the highest level of security.
As opposed to other approaches that rely on the security of the underlying vulnerable operating system, Hysolate's patented virtual air gap technology enhances virtualization to seamlessly split an endpoint into two isolated operating systems: an unlocked operating system that provides users with full freedom, and another locked-down operating system that is only used to access enterprise resources. This protects sensitive assets regardless of the type of attack vector used by attackers: whether they trick the user into installing malware or infect via the latest Windows zero-day vulnerability, attackers are trapped in one operating system and can't reach the other.
"While we are proud to introduce Hysolate, what excites us even more is that we are creating a game-changing comprehensive security architecture for endpoints," said Tal Zamir, co-founder and CEO of Hysolate. "The feedback we have received from our first customers - which include some of the world's most respected and well-known brands - over the last year has been overwhelmingly positive, and we look forward to rapidly expanding our customer and partner base over the next year."
Hysolate is the fourth company to be launched out of Team8, joining an impressive group of companies, including Illusive Networks, Claroty and the recently launched Sygnia. Hysolate is currently working with some of the largest enterprises in the world, including several of the world's biggest banks, technology vendors, financial services providers and other enterprise organizations.
"Team8's vision has always been focused on providing solutions to the most pressing cyber challenges across a diverse set of industries and the launch of Hysolate is a significant step forward in furthering that vision," said Nadav Zafrir, Co-Founder and CEO of Team8. "While most enterprise security products focus on security first and users last, Hysolate is "secure-by-design", ensuring no compromise on both security and user experience. Since its inception, the Hysolate team has far exceeded our expectations and we are very excited to continue working together as the company grows its business."
"Rarely in the cyber security industry is a solution introduced that has as wide-ranging an impact as what Hysolate is launching today," said Ziv Kop, a Partner at Innovation Endeavors. "Hysolate is rewriting the rules that enterprise IT has traditionally been governed by and dramatically improves enterprise productivity overall."
Hysolate was founded with the goal of solving the challenge faced by most enterprises considering how to best protect their endpoints: security or functionality. With roots in 8200 and other elite cyber units as well as world-class enterprise software companies like VMware and CyberArk, the Hysolate team has deep experience across the entirety of the cyber economy, enabling them to build a platform that can defend against the most malicious attacks, while simultaneously providing end users with unmatched ease-of-use. The company was co-founded by CEO Tal Zamir and COO Dan Dinnar and has offices in Tel Aviv and New York City. For more information, please visit http://www.hysolate.com.
