More Than 150 Workers to Fight Against Funding Cuts
SACRAMENTO, Calif., April 29, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Members of Teamsters Local 2010, the California Faculty Association (CFA), and the Academic Professionals of California (APC) will meet with state legislators for a lobby day on Tuesday, April 29 to demand that the legislature fully fund California State University (CSU) and reject any cuts or deferrals of funding. The Teamsters further demand that CSU honor their existing collective bargaining agreements and the fair raises contained within them.
The quality of education for students and the future of our state, which relies on CSU to produce more graduates than any other university system in the country, are threatened. The jobs of 1,200 CSU skilled trades Teamsters, and those of thousands more unionized workers represented by CFA and APC, are also in jeopardy if the governor's proposed budget is passed. Any deferral of funding damages skilled trades workers' ability to maintain CSU campuses and infrastructure and gives CSU an excuse to undermine collective bargaining agreements.
Workers from all three participating unions will meet with legislators in their offices over the course of the day to present the facts about the proposed CSU budget and ask them to support full, accountable funding for CSU.
