Tech Superwomen Summit Founder Cathryn Posey To Give Keynote Presentation At Web Summit 2014
Passionate evangelist for tech diversity to talk about how data can be underpinning for positive change in the workplace
SAN FRANCISCO, Oct. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Conference organizers of the Tech Superwomen Summit (TSWS) (http://www.techsuperwomensummit.com/) today announced its founder, Cathryn Posey, has been selected to give a keynote presentation on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014 at the 2014 Web Summit (http://websummit.net/). The Web Summit has become the defining tech event for Europe, bringing together the titans of industry and thought leaders from around the world. This year the event will host 20,000 attendees in Dublin on November 4-6.
At the Web Summit, Ms. Posey will talk about "Women in Tech -- it's about all of us." She passionately believes community is the key to innovation and that communities' health depends on diversity and intersection. To shift the inequity that currently persists in our community, she believes it will take all of us to address it. As part of her remarks, she will examine the role each of us plays in making our community a better, more inclusive, and, ultimately, more innovative one.
"We need to apply immediacy, risk-taking and bold action when it comes to solving these challenges," said Ms. Posey. "In short, we need to disrupt this. We have to come together and disrupt the systemic and cultural forces at work."
In 2011, Posey founded Tech By Superwomen to start a movement to elevate and celebrate women in tech. She is a recognized authority on issues impacting women in technology and an international speaker (SXSW, EBEDominicana, DataGotham, The Lean Startup Conference). She has been featured on NPR, Black Enterprise, Huffington Post, Forbes, Mashable, CNBC and Yahoo!
In January of 2015, Posey is hosting the first annual Tech Superwomen Summit -- a conversation on data and culture for everyone. The conference will take place at the Mission Bay Conference Center in San Francisco.
