(NASDAQ: AAPL) will unveil a new iPhone next month, according to a person familiar with the plans. ABI Research and KGI Securities Co. are among the industry watchers that say the device will include a fingerprint reader, a prediction bolstered by Apple's $350 million purchase of fingerprint- sensor maker AuthenTec Inc. last year.  "Apple is giving a strong indication that market leaders see biometrics as part of their roadmap," said Thomas Marschall, chief executive officer of Precise Biometrics AB (Stockholm: PREC), a maker of authentication equipment such as fingerprint sensors in Lund, Sweden. "All competitors are looking for alternatives to match Apple -- it's the kickoff of a rally in the industry."  Mobile-device makers are turning to biometrics to make smartphones more secure and quicker for making payments and accessing files, music and video through so-called cloud services. An Apple embrace of fingerprint sensors could give the technology a lift, much like the boost touch screens got after the iPhone's introduction in 2007. Russian airlines Aeroflot, UTair and aircraft leasing firm Aviation Capital Services have ordered a total of 126 avionics suites from US avionics firm Honeywell Aerospace (NYSE: HON) for installation on their latest fleets the firm said.  Honeywell said that its avionics suites feature the latest systems to maximize safety, increase passenger comfort and reduce pilot workload. Deliveries start in 2013 and include 16 avionics suites for Aeroflot's latest Boeing (NYSE: BA) 777 fleet. Also 50 avionics suites were ordered for ACS' latest Boeing 737NG fleet. In 2012 Aeroflot signed a memorandum of understanding with ACS to lease 50 737NGs, extending Aeroflot's Honeywell avionics portfolio.

Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) announced it was awarded a prime contract by the U.S. Marine Corps Logistics Command (LOGCOM) to provide innovative and responsive logistics support to meet the evolving mission needs of the war fighter. The multiple-award, indefinite-delivery/indefinite quantity contract has a one-year base period of performance, four one-year options, and a total contract value of $854 million for all awardees, if all options are exercised. Work will be performed throughout the continental United States and outside the continental United States.
