Teens Can Now Bank Through OnePay to Build Better Money Habits

Teens ages 13–17 can start building credit history, save at up to 3.35% APY, invest, and earn rewards, all with parental sponsorship, real-time controls, and no monthly fee

NEW YORK, Sept. 28, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- OnePay, the consumer fintech trusted by millions of Americans to make money better, today announced that teens ages 13-17 can bank through OnePay, giving them a hands-on way to manage money and build a financial foundation while parents maintain visibility and control.

There are roughly 42 million teenagers in the United States.¹ Most will reach college without a working understanding of banking, saving, or investing, and without any credit history at all. A first car loan, an apartment application, a first credit card are all harder to get independently, and usually at higher rates, unless a parent co-signs.

With OnePay, teens can begin building credit history, spend, save, invest, earn rewards, receive allowances, and send money to friends and family, giving them access to many of the financial tools they'll use as adults. Nothing is reported to the credit bureaus while they're under 18. When teens turn 18, OnePay reports their eligible account history, helping them enter adulthood with an established credit file rather than a blank one. To qualify, they must remain an authorized user on a parent's OnePay deposit account, complete SSN verification, and not opt out of credit reporting.

Parents, through the OnePay app, can see their teens' accounts, follow their activity, manage controls, set allowances, and get real-time alerts. Teens can bank through OnePay with no monthly or subscription fees.

When teens turn 18, their OnePay accounts can transition with them into adulthood. They can keep their Builder Card, spending and savings history, automations, and any credit history they've built — and gain full access to the OnePay platform, including the CashRewards card, Pay Later, Crypto, and more

Teens can start banking through OnePay beginning September 28, 2026 in the OnePay app. Teens can choose from a variety of Builder Card designs: black, denim, leopard, sticker, and the original OnePay blue.
