TekStream to Spotlight Cybersecurity Workforce Development and Digital Resilience at Educause 2026

Proactive cybersecurity provider to lead sessions on evolving student SOC programs and making cyber risk visible across higher education

Throughout the conference, TekStream cybersecurity leaders will share practical approaches to two challenges higher education institutions face: building a stronger pipeline of career-ready cybersecurity talent and creating greater visibility into institutional cyber risk. TekStream will lead two sessions focused on helping colleges and universities evolve their security programs while strengthening long-term digital resilience.

The first of TekStream's two sessions is "Rethinking the Student SOC: Expanding Cyber Workforce Development Beyond Triage," which will take place Wednesday, Sept. 30 from 9:30 – 10:30 am MT. During the session, Matt Clemmons, Managing Director at TekStream, and Bruce Johnson, VP of Solutions Development, will explore how higher education institutions can evolve student security operations center (SOC) programs beyond traditional alert triage. As AI increasingly automates routine security analysis, the session will examine opportunities to expose students to higher-value functions including detection engineering, automation, incident response, risk intelligence, compliance and executive reporting.

On Thursday, Oct. 1, Johnson and Morgan will host the session, "From Blind Spots to Board Insight: Making Cyber Risk Visible in Higher Ed," from 1 – 1:45 pm MT. They'll discuss another persistent challenge for higher education security teams: turning fragmented security data into a clear picture of institutional cyber risk. The session will introduce a practical framework to reduce visibility gaps, establish continuous compliance assurance, and translate operational security data into insights that better inform institutional leaders and boards.

Attendees will leave with actionable approaches to connect technical telemetry to institutional risk, demonstrate the maturity of the security program, and improve cybersecurity decision-making across the institution.
