TeleRare Health and Frederick Health Announce a Partnership to Expand Access in Rare and Genetics-based Diseases

Collaboration will leverage the convenience of telehealth visits to improve access to genetic testing, speed diagnosis, and enable knowledgeable care for rare disease patients and families in Maryland

FREDERICK, Md. and MINNEAPOLIS, March 11, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- TeleRare Health™ launched a partnership today with a leading community health system in Maryland, with a focus on expanding patient access to genetic testing, diagnosis, and knowledgeable care for rare and genetics-based diseases.

In the United States, a disease is considered rare if it affects fewer than 200,000 Americans.  According to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), there are approximately 10,000 rare diseases, impacting over 30 million Americans.

Second, by leveraging technology, telehealth, and asynchronous care as much as possible, patients will not be subject to the lengthy waitlists that often plague genetics and other specialty clinics. Finally, genomics informed medical care will be integrated into a patient's standard healthcare without any change to existing service lines and clinical workflows.
