Tennessee DOT Selects Altitude by Geotab for Freight and Mobility Insights Solution

TDOT leverages real-world commercial vehicle insights to enhance travel demand modeling, reduce freight bottlenecks, and optimize highway infrastructure investments across Tennessee.

ATLANTA, Sept. 23, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Altitude by Geotab, a leading mobility insights platform, today announced a new four-year statewide contract with the Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT). Through this agreement, TDOT gains complete access to Altitude's comprehensive suite of transportation data analytics modules, providing high-resolution, commercial-vehicle-specific mobility insights to inform statewide travel modeling, freight movement planning, and infrastructure modernization.

Procured through the Eastern Transportation Coalition (TETC), the contract reinforces TDOT's commitment to utilizing cutting-edge data solutions for state transportation network design. The agreement grants TDOT access to Altitude's full portfolio of analytics tools like:

• Stop Analytics

This follows a recent announcement by Geotab, highlighting TDOT's adoption of fleet management technology across its operational state vehicles. Showcasing the expanding depth and breadth of Geotab's trusted relationship with the State of Tennessee across both fleet operational management and big-data transportation planning.

• Granular Travel Demand Modeling: Provides commercial-vehicle-specific OD matrices, Vehicle Miles Traveled (VMT) by vehicle class, and ground-truth trip generation data to calibrate and validate TDOT's statewide travel model.
• Freight Bottleneck Hotspot Mitigation: Analyzing delay-minutes per truck by time of day at critical Tennessee interchanges. 
• Corridor & Highway Flow Analysis: Conducting Segment Flow OD analysis along major corridors for pre-deployment baselines and post-construction impact evaluations.
• Truck Parking & Rest Area Optimization: Evaluating dwell times, demand curves, and capacity stress indicators across 15 identified rest areas slated for upgrades and potential new construction.
