Texas-based Academy Sports + Outdoors expands in home state with a new location and renovation in Corpus Christi area

KATY, Texas, May 16, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Academy Sports + Outdoors (d/b/a Academy), a premier sports, outdoor and lifestyle retailer based in Katy, TX, today announced that it will expand its presence in the Corpus Christi area with a new location in Portland, TX and a renovation of the 110,000 sq. ft. Corpus Christi store. Academy will bring over 100 new jobs to Portland with a 58,000 square foot store that's slated to open in spring 2014.

The Corpus Christi location will feature an expanded sales floor and a new look throughout the store including an updated archery lane, digital golf simulator, and open concepts including footwear, hunting, fishing, patio, water sports and more. The store will remain open during renovations, and will provide the services that customers have come to know including assembly and delivery, the sale of hunting and fishing licenses, scope mounting, bore sighting, line winding/spooling, propane exchange and racquet stringing.
