Texas Kids to Voters: Have Y'all Tried Putting a Mom in Charge?

Mothers Against Greg Abbott Urges Texans to Vote for Gina Hinojosa, Vikki Goodwin, Sarah Eckhardt and 126 Other Democratic Mothers

AUSTIN, Texas, Oct. 6, 2026 /PRNewswire/ -- Mothers Against Greg Abbott today launched "Moms Have Rizz," a statewide campaign urging Texas voters to cast ballots for Gina Hinojosa, Vikki Goodwin, Sarah Eckhardt and 126 other Democratic mothers running for office this November.

The campaign centers on a humorous commercial in which two children praise the multitasking and leadership skills they see in their mothers. Its name plays on "rizz," youth slang for charisma or charm. The organization said it chose the lighthearted approach as an alternative to deepfakes and negative attack ads.

"Kids watch moms multitask and solve problems all day long," said Nancy Thompson, founder of Mothers Against Greg Abbott. "We wanted to have a little fun with the idea that those skills belong in government, too. Politics doesn't always have to sound like the end of civilization over black-and-white footage."

According to the organization's analysis:

• 58% of Democratic candidates running in Texas in 2026 are women.
• 66% of those women are mothers.
• 55% of female candidates running statewide are women of color.
• 31% of Democratic women candidates running for office are teachers.

The ad is built to be shared: participating candidates can add end-cards directing viewers to their own races. A social media campaign will use #TotalMomRizz and #TotalMomFlex.

"Parents spend years telling children they can grow up to be anything," Thompson said. "Maybe our kids have something to tell us, too. Maybe Mom can be anything she wants to be when she grows up, even Governor, Lieutenant Governor, or your next state representative."

How to get involved: Watch and share the ad, and vote for Gina Hinojosa, Vikki Goodwin, Sarah Eckhardt and the 126 other Democratic mothers on your ballot.
