SAN ANTONIO, Feb. 26, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- To commemorate Maya Henry turning 15, her parents Azteca and Thomas J. Henry, threw her an upscale Quinceañera on February 12.
The lavish party was orchestrated by renowned New York social event planner David E. Monn. The party had no shortage of pink as well as a wall of live Peonies and custom Peony wall paper. Thousands of paper Butterflies hung from the ceiling and large columns topped with floral arrangements were scattered around the room. The private event was attended by an eclectic mix of San Antonio's most influential and culturally relevant individuals. The evening featured an Earth Harp musical installation and live entertainment by Gen 8 and the Mariachi Azteca de America. The evening culminated in headline performances by two of Maya's favorite Billboard Top 10 performers, Pitbull and Nick Jonas.
Guest were treated an array of foods that started with passed hors d'oeuvre and then moved into the main room were there were two large food stations that mirrored each other in size. The first station was a Sushi and Ceviche station. The other station was a Mexican inspired menu with included Gorditas, Lamb Empanadas, Fish Tacos, Enchiladas and more. There was also a live action seafood station which included someone shucking Oysters, King Crab Legs, Shrimp and more. The menus for the dinner were inspired by Rick Bayless of Chicago and his restaurant Frontera Grill in Chicago. The food stations were changed later in the evening to American themed food stations.
In addition to Maya's seven-layer birthday cake, each guest took home a custom-made, vanilla and berry flavored mini-cake flanked with butterflies and a thank you note.
Maya was dressed in a custom-made gown, designed by Rolando Santana of Ports. Her makeup was done by celebrity makeup artist Patrick Ta who has worked with Gigi Hadid and the Kardashians.
As a young woman, Maya has demonstrated wisdom and drive well beyond her years. She has already positioned herself as a regular on the Texas tennis championship circuit and is volunteering for one of the nation's top presidential.
Maya is very active in philanthropy. She launched Maya's Corner in 2010 – an endeavor to promote and assist causes benefiting children.
