Thanking Teachers Who Inspire Others to Shine
TUCSON, Ariz., May 25, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Ten outstanding school teachers across the U.S. were honored this month as part of Mister Car Wash's Inspiring Futures – Teacher Appreciation program. Each winner received a $500 grant for their classroom and a complimentary annual Unlimited Wash Club® pass. The total value of the awards was over $32,000.
According to Ciera Lopez, Community Relations Specialist, Mister Car Wash's teacher appreciation campaign began April 3rd when customers were invited to nominate a teacher who inspires others to shine by sharing their story. The response was immediate with more than 1,000 customers sharing stories of inspiration about teachers who are making a difference every day. Submissions represented classrooms in each of the cities served by Mister Car Wash.
"I personally reviewed every nomination and was blown away by the tremendous impact these individuals are having on our communities. Every submission was so heartfelt," said Lopez. "The Teacher Appreciation portion of our Inspiring Futures program reminds us that thousands of teachers go above and beyond every day inspiring others to shine and our panel, which included CEO John Lai, had a tough time selecting this year's ten grand prize recipients," Lopez added. In addition to awarding ten grand prizes, Mister Car Wash sent every nominee a complimentary platinum car wash pass and letter of appreciation.
This is the second consecutive year that Mister Car Wash has recognized outstanding teachers in their communities. "We've donated over $32,000 in grants and wash services as our token of appreciation and hope this campaign will continue to pay it forward by reminding all communities to thank their teachers as another school year comes to an end," said Lopez.

Teachers receiving top honors from Mister Car Wash this year include Mrs. Calvert, a fourth grade DECA teacher at Klenk Elementary School in Houston, Tex.; Miss Hernandez, an eighth grade math teacher at Socorro Middle School in El Paso, Tex.; Miss Barone, a first grade teacher at Sulphur Springs Community K-8 School in Tampa, Fla.; Mrs. McMillan, a fifth grade teacher at Michael Anderson Elementary School in Fairchild, Wash.; Mr. Clanton, a Construction teacher at Lamar County High School in Griffin, Ga.; Mr. Horne, a ninth to tenth grade Bible teacher at Northside Christian School in St. Petersburg, Fla.; Mrs. Barnhart, a ninth grade English teacher at Kipp Houston High School in Houston, Tex.; Mr. McKinney, an eighth grade science teacher at Los Lunas Middle School in Los Lunas, NM; Mrs. Romo, a sixth grade language arts teacher at LW Cross Middle School in Tucson, Ariz.; and Mrs. Woodfin, a third grade teacher at St. John Vianney Catholic School in Gallatin, Tenn.
