Thanks To Mattress Firm, Christmas Is Coming Early For The Residents Of The Salvation Army's Family Caring Center Shelter In East Liberty
PITTSBURGH, Nov. 17, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- We all know the difference that a good night's rest can make. The Salvation Army and Mattress Firm are combining their efforts to make a positive impact on the lives of the residents in The Salvation Army's Family Caring Center shelter in the East Liberty section of Pittsburgh. At 10:00 am on Tuesday, November 18th, at the center's location at 6017 Broad Street, Mattress Firm will make a delivery of 50 new Luxury latex Pillows and 50 Luxury Pillow Protectors. When combined with other donations that Mattress Firm has made as a sponsor of The Salvation Army's Most Amazing Race earlier in the fall, the total value of their contribution is nearly $10,000 this year.
The desperate need for quality pillows for the residents of the shelter was brought to light by radio personality, Flick, of 100.7 Star, who lived outside during his "Man in a Box" Homeless Awareness program during one of the coldest weeks this past winter. Flick spent his nights at the shelter and said, "The place is spotless, the food is good, the services they provide in getting people back on their feet are amazing. The only thing missing is some decent pillows for these folks." Hearing about the need from The Salvation Army, Jarrett Rodriguez, Mattress Firm District Manager, was more than happy to help.
