HIGH POINT, N.C., Jan. 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- You have heard of a jewelry trunk show before, but have you heard of a contemporary furniture trunk show?

The Thayer Coggin Trunk Show kicks off in Dallas next Wednesday at Cantoni/Contempo Designs showroom at the World Trade Center from 4 – 7 p.m.

In commemoration of Thayer Coggin's 60th anniversary, the High Point furniture manufacturer is conducting a national trunk tour showcasing internationally acclaimed designer Milo Baughman's furniture designs of the mid-century modern era.

"The national tour will feature 21 of the most noted designs that Milo Baughman created exclusively for Thayer Coggin," said Mrs. Royale Coggin Wiggin, president of the company.  "My father, Thayer, and Milo had a special relationship for 50 years, collaborating on some ground-breaking designs that remain cornerstones in American-made, contemporary furniture."

"In celebration of our 60th anniversary, we are taking these design classics to furniture showrooms across the country.  It's a furniture trunk show, so to speak, we just deliver it with a transfer truck," said Wiggin. "Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin worked together to define a classical era of modern furniture in America. This road show will highlight the history of our company and spotlight our commitment to excellence and craftsmanship in making American contemporary furniture."

The Thayer Coggin Road Show Tour will be held in Dallas, Miami, Richmond, Baton Rouge, Baltimore, New York, Naples, Boston, Columbus, Detroit, Chicago, Saint Louis, Oklahoma City, Austin, Denver, Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles and San Diego.  In each city, the tour will be hosted by an authorized Thayer Coggin dealer/designer showroom.

At each venue, a cocktail reception event will be held featuring the designs of Milo Baughman, including the 1953 "Scoop" chair and the Studio MB Group from 2003.  Phil Miller, director of sales and marketing for Thayer Coggin, will attend each event and provide a presentation on the 50-year friendship and partnership between Milo Baughman and Thayer Coggin – a collaboration that defined the mid-century modern era of furniture design.  /  Twitter: @thayercoggin
