LOS ANGELES, Sept. 27, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The 2012 Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival returns to screen the best in new and classic, independent cinema.

The 9th Hollywood Reel Independent Film Festival (HRIFF) returns to the New Beverly Cinema in December 2012, to screen their largest and most extensive program to date. Over 70 films, including new work from Bryce Dallas Howard and Ron Howard; Uwe Boll, appearing in person with cast and crew for the American premiere of Bailout: The Age of Greed; the world premiere of the restoration project for Manos: The Hands of Fate in HD; and world premieres of the restored "1960s and 1970s Films of Tinto Brass."

HRIFF is proud to unveil the "1960s and 1970s Films of Tinto Brass" retrospective that includes world premieres of restored and extended versions of the rarest Tinto Brass films of the 1960s and 1970s, including La Vacanza and Dropout, both starring Vanessa Redgrave and Franco Nero (neither of these films has been screened in the U.S. for over 30 years), as well as Nerosubianco, Tempo Libero & Tempo Lavorativo, and much more.

All films in the Tinto Brass retrospective are in extended, restored versions with unseen footage taken from the Tinto Brass archives, and screened along with new documentaries about the making of the films, Q&A's with director Tinto Brass, and film scholar, Alexander Tuschinski, and panel discussions of the director's body of work, featuring friends, scholars, and other guests TBA.

At HRIFF, emerging filmmakers screen alongside the most accomplished names in Hollywood. Recent guests and award winners include: Gerard Depardieu, Hilary Duff (Lizzie McGuire), Danny Masterson, Tyler Blackburn, Laura Prepon, Haylie Duff, Mathias Gnadinger, Alex Meraz (Twilight), John Robinson (Lords of Dogtown), Jeremy Sisto (Law and Order), Gary Cole (Pineapple Express) and Danny Strong (Mad Men).

HRIFF screens independent films, shorts and documentaries; presents awards honoring the best in independent filmmaking; hosts celebrity panels, Q&A sessions, commentary and analysis.
