The 28th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon Presented By Equinox Raised $1,350,000 For Children's Hospital Los Angeles

MALIBU, Calif., Sept. 14, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Hosting some of the world's finest athletes, philanthropists, celebrities and supporters, the 28^th Annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon presented by Equinox raised more than $1.35 million for Children's Hospital Los Angeles' Pediatric Cancer Research Program. Over 5,000 participants swam, biked and ran side-by-side to support the cause while friends, families and spectators cheered them on.

Hollywood stars who lent their support for the Nautica Malibu Triathlon presented by Equinox included Heather Tom who came in first in the celebrity female division with a time of 2:08:45.69 and Colin Egglesfield who came in first in the celebrity male division with a time of 1:47:07.14. Team Xperra brought home the victory in the Celebrity Co-Ed Relay Division with a time of 1:34:29.57. Others who competed in the Celebrity Division were John Cryer, Max Greenfield, Teri Hatcher and Mark Feuerstein to name a few.

Bill Macleod took home the gold as the overall winner of the triathlon, finishing the half-mile swim, 18-mile bike ride and four mile run in 1:31:48.35.  Jenny Perrey garnered first place in the female division with a time of 1:47:57.28.

Money raised by the Nautica Malibu Triathlon presented by Equinox will go to Children's Hospital Los Angeles' Pediatric Cancer Research Program, which is dedicated to curing and preventing childhood cancers. The program provides groundbreaking treatments and therapies for children with some of the most serious and life-threatening forms of cancers.

In addition to The Classic Distance Race, friends, families and fans of the Nautica Malibu Triathlon presented by Equinox were invited to enjoy games in the Fun Zone and watch young aspiring triathletes participate in the Nautica Kids Run and Tot Trot.  Additional finish times for competitors are available by request or by visiting the official website at www.nauticamalibutri.com.
