The 2nd Annual Houston Energy and Climate Week Champions an "Unstoppable" Future with a Focus on Resilience, Innovation, and Workforce
HOUSTON, April 8, 2025 /PRNewswire/ -- Houston Energy and Climate Week (HECW) 2025 returns this September 14–19 under the empowering theme "Unstoppable," embodying the resilience, innovation, and human ingenuity driving Houston's evolution as a global leader in energy and climate innovation. HECW 2025 aims to showcase Houston's commitment to building a sustainable and inclusive future through groundbreaking ideas and workforce empowerment. The week embraces the rich diversity of the city and region, expanding its footprint to showcase the intersection of the arts, technology, energy, space exploration, and medicine, reflecting Houston's unique position as a global innovation hub.
In 2024 the event garnered 85 events and over 1 million media impressions. This year's goal is to host 100 events across Houston, engage 2.5 million and bring 5,000 participants in person and online. This year's program features five anchor events designed to engage diverse audiences and foster meaningful impact:
- Opening and Closing Ceremonies to inspire and celebrate progress within the community.
- An innovation-focused hackathon, empowering next-generation builders to tackle real-world challenges.
- A pilot-a-thon for startups, providing a unique platform to validate solutions and gain traction.
- A career fair welcoming seasoned professionals and aspiring talent, promoting opportunities across sectors.
Aligned with the Unity Commitment, HECW 2025 emphasizes inclusivity and equitable engagement, creating a space where all voices contribute to shaping Houston's energy transition. In February, organizers brought together nearly 200 leaders to HECW Design Day which helped to shape this year's agenda. "This week marks a powerful moment of unity as we come together to innovate boldly, raise awareness of the critical actions needed, and drive progress toward a resilient and sustainable future for Houston." said 2025 Co-Chairs Ingrid Velasco and Samhita Shah.
HECW is proud to be part of a growing multi-city nationwide network of climate and energy weeks, including Washington D.C., San Francisco, Denver, New York, the Pacific Northwest, and cities forming in the Gulf region. Uniting under a shared mission, these gatherings amplify the conversation around energy innovation, jobs, and climate solutions nationwide, further embedding resilience into the fabric of our communities.
