WASHINGTON, Aug. 1, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The A. Philip Randolph Institute will host a reception and town hall meeting on Wednesday, August 1, 2012, at the Capital Hilton Hotel, to kick-off the National Education Conference of the A. Philip Randolph Institute (APRI), one of the foremost national organizations of African American trade unionists. Over 500 activists from across the country will convene in the nation's capital for the "Feel the Power…Fight for the Power…VOTE!" conference which will take on the growing, coordinated effort to suppress voting in communities of color; plans to increase black voter turnout; strategies to narrow health care disparities, and expansion of social and economic justice in the African American community. The Conference will conclude on Sunday, August 5th.
